How Many Types of Fabric Printing

nc efi placeholder

When you think of fabric printing, you probably imagine a shirt with an image printed on it. But there are actually three different types of fabric printing methods: silk screen printing, roller printing, and ink jet. Let’s take a look at each one!

Silk screen printing

Silk screen printing is a process that uses a stencil and ink, typically for fabric printing. The design is placed on a mesh stencil, then inked. The ink is forced through the openings in the stencil by using pressure or suction. This method produces very high-quality prints with excellent detail and color reproduction.

Roller printing

Roller printing is a manual process that uses roller-type applicators to apply ink onto the fabric. The roller applicators can be inked with one color, or multiple colors can be used to create more complex designs. Roller printing is commonly used for custom t-shirts and other items that require small runs of prints.

Ink jet

Ink jet printing. This is similar to a word processing document, except that instead of using ink cartridges, the printer uses jets of liquid ink. The process is done in layers, so you can get multiple colors in one frame.

There are three types of fabric printing

  • Silk screen printing: In silk screen printing, a stencil is created on a fabric by using wax or other adhesive. Then paint is placed on the stencil and pressed onto the fabric printing hong kong. The ink goes through the openings of the stencil, creating an imprint on the fabric in that shape. This method creates a raised image on your product.
  • Roller printing: Roller printing uses application rollers to apply paint to a surface with pressure and speed. It works best when there are high volumes of prints needed but not high quality needed (examples include posters, T-shirts).
  • Ink jet: Ink jet technology uses small droplets of ink sprayed directly at paper or cloth from an inkjet printer head in order to create designs for textiles like T-shirts, banners and bags

Conclusion

The most important thing to remember when you are trying to decide which method is best for your business is that not all methods are created equal. The method that fits your needs and budget will depend on what kind of products you want to create, how much time and money you have available, what kinds of customers you want and more.
